MANILA: The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned of dangerous heat index levels in 38 areas across the country on Thursday.Based on the weather bureau's 5 p.m. forecast on Wednesday, the following areas may have a heat index ranging from 42°C to 47°C on Thursday:NAIA Pasay City, Metro Manila - 45°CScience Garden, Quezon City, Metro Manila - 43°CLaoag City, Ilocos Norte - 42°CDagupan City, Pangasinan - 46°CBacnotan, La Union - 43°CAparri, Cagayan - 43°CTuguegarao, Cagayan - 44°CISU, Echague, Isabela - 43°CIba, Zambales - 43°CClark Airport, Pampanga - 43°CCLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija - 44°CBaler (Radar), Aurora - 43°CCasiguran, Aurora - 42°CCubi Pt. Albay - 44°CVirac (Synop), Catanduanes - 44°CMasbate City, Masbate - 42°CCBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur - 43°CRoxas City Capiz - 45°CIloilo City, Iloilo - 43°CDumangas, Iloilo - 43°CCatarman, Northern Samar - 43°CTacloban City, Leyte - 42°CGuiuan, Eastern Samar - 42°CZamboanga City, Zamboanga - 43°CDavao City, Davao del Sur - 42°CGeneral Santos City, South Cotabato - 42°CPAGASA said heat index is what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature.The weather bureau advised the public to limit the time spent outdoors, especially at noon, and drink plenty of water.People going outdoors are reminded to use umbrellas or wear hats and sleeved clothing.Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting southern Mindanao will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.Metro Manila and th e rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.The whole archipelago will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.Source: Philippines News Agency
