Zhangzhou: The 2026 Fujian Provincial Conference on the Development of Cultural and Tourism Economy commenced in Zhangzhou, located in China's Fujian province. The event, which began on Friday, is centered on the theme "Building a World-Class Destination, Cultivating a Pillar Industry." It aims to spotlight the wisdom, lifestyle, and culture inherent in Minnan (Southern Fujian) traditions. This conference aligns with a significant local initiative to establish the World Minnan Cultural Exchange Center and includes six main activities alongside 60 peripheral events designed to attract a global audience.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the opening ceremony featured the Homing Minnan (Return to Southern Fujian) show. This performance, set against the historic backdrop of Yuegang Port, showcased local craftsmanship and employed interactive staging to embody the "daring to try, striving to win" spirit.
