Kuala lumpur: MARA is considering implementing various measures to support entrepreneurs impacted by the global economic challenges resulting from ongoing geopolitical uncertainties. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that one of the measures under review includes reducing the rental rates for premises occupied by affected entrepreneurs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, stated that MARA is evaluating the possibility of rescheduling financing payments to provide entrepreneurs with room to stabilize their financial situations. Additionally, MARA is committed to strengthening the BUDI MARA Education Programme to support students from low-income backgrounds, ensuring they can continue their education without financial burdens.

Ahmad Zahid emphasized the importance of maintaining access to quality education, especially in challenging economic times. He noted that if a student from Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) faces difficulties, the entire MARA ecosystem should mobilize to provide assistance. He highlighted these points during the opening ceremony of MRSM Dungun.

Following the ceremony, Ahmad Zahid encouraged affected entrepreneurs to engage with MARA for assistance or to discuss potential adjustments in their financing payments. He clarified that the measures are specifically for those genuinely impacted and not for those attempting to exploit the relief offered.

In a separate matter, Ahmad Zahid, as the chairman of the Central Disaster Management Committee, addressed the aftermath of a fire in Kampung Bahagia, Batu Sapi, Sandakan. The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) is coordinating relief efforts for over 9,000 residents affected by the fire. Temporary evacuation sites have been established, and victims are registering for assistance. Sandakan district police chief ACP George Abd Rakman reported that the fire was declared a disaster at 4 am, though no casualties have been reported.
