Firefighters Rescue Stranded Woman from Rising Tide at Balok Beach

Balok beach: A 24-year-old woman was rescued by firefighters after she became stranded on a sand bar at Balok Beach here yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations Mohd Salahuddin Isa reported that nine firefighters from the Gebeng station were dispatched following an emergency call at 8.37 am. The woman, who had ventured about 100 meters from the shoreline, was caught off guard by the rising tide, leaving her isolated on the sand bar.

Mohd Salahuddin Isa emphasized the importance of public awareness regarding tidal changes. He advised against lingering on sand bars during tide fluctuations and stressed the necessity of being mindful of tide schedules. "Sand bars may look safe during low tide but can quickly become submerged as the tide rises. The public is advised to avoid such high-risk areas when alone and to ensure they are accompanied by others," he stated in his advisory.
