Phnom Penh: The World Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Cambodia in its journey toward achieving Vision 2050.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, this commitment was reiterated by Ms. Mariam J. Sherman, Country Director of the World Bank for Cambodia, Vietnam, and Lao PDR, during a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace here this afternoon.
Ms. Sherman praised Cambodia’s rapid development across all sectors and emphasized the strong partnership between the World Bank and the Royal Government in advancing the Kingdom’s socio-economic progress. She also informed the Prime Minister about the approval of the Country Partnership Framework for Cambodia for 2025-2029.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the World Bank. He thanked the World Bank for its continued support and contributions to Cambodia’s socio-economic development.
The Prime Minister highlighted the Royal Government’s policies and initiatives to diversify and promote economic growth and development. These efforts focus on key sectors such as the economy, agriculture, tourism, and logistics infrastructure, along with incentive policies to attract additional investment. He also underscored key measures aimed at ensuring a favorable investment climate, particularly by fostering conditions that enable the private sector to integrate and enhance its resilience.
Additionally, Samdech Thipadei and Ms. Sherman discussed cooperation in building human capital in Cambodia. The Prime Minister outlined the Royal Government’s efforts to strengthen basic education, vocational training, and the health sector while creating job opportunities for Cambodian citizens. In response, Ms. Sherman affirmed the World Bank’s readiness to continue its cooperation and support in human capital development, recognizing it as a crucial factor in achieving Cambodia’s Vision 2050.
Furthermore, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet encouraged Ms. Sherman to continue working closely with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to further strengthen relations and cooperation between the Royal Government and the World Bank.
