Tram kak: Eighty-one farming households in Tram Kak district, Takeo province, have been awarded a US$1.2 million grant through the Cambodia Agricultural Sector Diversification Project (CASDP), funded by the World Bank. The grant is intended to boost greenhouse vegetable cultivation and free-range egg-laying chicken farming in the region.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the O’ Phut Free-Range Chicken Agricultural Community is the recipient of the grant. H.E. Khim Finan, Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF), announced the allocation. A portion of the grant, amounting to US$140,000, will cover 40 percent of the investment costs for greenhouse vegetables and chicken farming. Additionally, US$1 million is earmarked for constructing a 6.4-kilometre paved road within the community.
Households participating in the project will receive approximately US$2,300 each for vegetable farming initiatives and US$1,200 each for chicken farming support. The community intends to collaborate with MAFF to transform into a modern agricultural cooperative. This transition is expected to provide members with access to low-interest start-up capital, standardised technical training, and secure market linkages.
