SINGAPORE ARMED FORCES SUPPORTS INDONESIA’S DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS

SINGAPORE, Singapore’s Defence Ministry announced Wednesday it sent two C-130 transport aircraft carrying humanitarian supplies to Indonesia, in support of the Indonesian Government’s disaster relief efforts following the earthquakes and tsunami on Sept. 28.

In a press release, it said the relief package which was sent Tuesday, comprised tents, meal rations, bottled water and medical supplies worth approximately S$240,000 (about US$174,620).

According to Xinhua news agency, it was donated by the Singapore Armed Forces.

The press release said the two transport aircraft would remain in Indonesia following delivery of the relief package, to support the Indonesian Government to evacuate those displaced from disaster-hit areas.
