Seize the opportunity of RCEP to develop China-ASEAN auto economic and trade complementarity

On April 18th, the 2021 Mainstream Automotive International Forum was held in Shanghai. Xu Ningning, Executive Chairman of the China-ASEAN Business Council, and Wang Xia, Chairman of the Automobile Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, delivered speeches. Liu Xiaoyong, president and editor-in-chief of “Auto Watch” magazine presided over the opening ceremony.

With the theme of “Believe in Certainty”, this forum focused on three hot topics in the industry: stock market liberalization, RCEP, and chip supply cut-off.

Xu Ningning said that the China -ASEAN automotive sector and related industries are highly complementary in economy and trade. Efforts should be made to improve the level of cooperation in the automotive industry and the level of international business operations of enterprises, and seize the new opening development opportunities brought about by RCEP coming into effect. As an important concurrent event of the Shanghai/Beijing International Auto Show every year, the mainstream automotive international forum hosted by “Auto Watch” magazine focuses on the industrial cooperation between China and other developed countries in the global automotive industry, and promotes the international development of the automotive industry and market.

The forum was supported by the Shanghai International Auto Show Organizing Committee, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Automobile Industry Branch, China -ASEAN Business Council (CABC), German Automobile Manufacturers Association (VDA) and other institutions. More than 100 representatives from auto industry institutions, international exchanges and cooperation organizations, mainstream auto companies and economic, technological, and legal circles at home and abroad interpret the new epidemic environment, new international environment, and new industrial environment from different perspectives The new model, new characteristics and new opportunities of automobile development are expected to promote the integration of resources, complementary advantages and coordinated development of the global automobile market.

The 19th Shanghai International Auto Show opened on April 19. As the world’s first A-class auto show in 2021, many international car companies choose to launch heavyweight new products at this auto show.
