KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18 2018 (Bernama) — The remains of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, 24, were flown on a MI17-IV helicopter belonging to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) to Kedah at 8.50 am today.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, were also at the Airod facility in Subang to pay their last respects when the hearse containing Muhammad Adib’s remains was carried to the helicopter to be flown to his hometown.

The remains of Muhammad Adib arrived at the FRD airbase at about 7.55 am after the funeral rites and prayer at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (NIFM) of the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Accompanying Muhammad Adib’s body on the flight to Kampung Tebengau, Kuala Kedah, where it will be buried, were his family members and FRD officers.

The 24-year-old firefighter died at 9.41 pm at the National Heart Institute (IJN) yesterday after he was allegedly beaten up by several people during the riots near the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ25, Subang Jaya on Nov 27. He was there in an operation to put out a fire in front of the premises.
