PHL EMBASSY IN THE HAGUE COMMEMORATES RIZAL’S MARTYRDOM

Ambassador Jaime Victor B. Ledda led the Philippine Embassy in The Hague in commemorating the 120th anniversary of the martyrdom of Philippine national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal on December 29.

Officers of the Knights of Rizal-The Hague Chapter and members of the Filipino Community attended the program.

Ambassador Ledda mentioned Rizal’s visits in Paris as a ”tourist’ and his consciousness about the Netherlands (through his correspondence with Mr. Blumentritt) and of a Dutch writer with a nom de guerre, “Multatuli,” whose work also for “a cause” is similar to Rizal’s “Noli Me Tangere.” END
