OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF MALAYSIA TO TURKMENISTAN ON 10-11 JANUARY 2018

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato’ Sri Anifah Haji Aman will undertake an Official Visit to Turkmenistan from 10 to 11 January 2018. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will be accompanied by his spouse, Datin Sri Siti Rubiah Abdul Samad; and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his visit to Turkmenistan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will make a courtesy call on the President of Turkmenistan, His Excellency Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and conduct a meeting with his Turkmenistan counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Rashid Meredov on 11 January 2018. The meetings will allow both sides to take stock of bilateral relations as well as to explore other possible areas of collaboration. It will also be an opportunity to exchange views on a range of global and regional issues of common concern. The Minister of Foreign Affairs is also scheduled to give a lecture at the Institute of International Relations of Turkmenistan.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, Malaysia-Turkmenistan relations remain close and enjoy cooperation in various areas including trade and investment, education, culture and others. The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Turkmenistan is a testament to Malaysia’s commitment in enhancing Malaysia-Turkmenistan bilateral relations.
