Seremban: Nine foreign men have been remanded for four days until January 11 to aid investigations into an online part-time job scam.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Seremban deputy district police chief, Supt Muhd Amrul Yazid Anuar, reported that all nine individuals were apprehended during an Ops Belatuk raid on a residence in the district on Wednesday. The operation, which took place at 3:30 pm, was initiated based on public tip-offs and intelligence compiled by the Intelligence and Operations Division of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department of the state police contingent headquarters, along with the Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Seremban district police headquarters.
The raid resulted in the arrest of nine suspects, aged between 28 and 46. Initial investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly part of a syndicate promoting fictitious online part-time jobs targeting victims overseas. Muhd Amrul Yazid mentioned that during the raid, authorities confiscated nine computer sets, a laptop, 32 mobile phones of various brands, and 55 SIM cards, all believed to have been utilized in the fraudulent activities.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
