NBC Governor Engages with Korea’s KB Kookmin Bank Delegation

Phnom penh: H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), recently received a courtesy visit from a senior delegation of KB Kookmin Bank, led by Mr. Lee Hwan Ju, President of Kookmin Bank.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Mr. Lee expressed his appreciation for the visit to Cambodia and highlighted the significance of understanding the country’s economic potential. He emphasized that Cambodia’s favorable investment environment is a key factor encouraging Kookmin Bank’s shareholders to deepen their long-term commitment by providing continued support to its subsidiary, KB Prasac Bank Plc.

Mr. Lee also noted his intention to make Kookmin Bank’s investment in Cambodia a model for other Korean investors, illustrating the Kingdom’s success and opportunities for growth. He expressed admiration for the well-organized operations of the SOSORO Museum of Money and Economy, acknowledging Cambodia’s extensive monetary history.

During his visit, Mr. Lee plans to inspect the operations of KB Prasac Bank Plc. to explore possibilities for expanding additional financial products and services.

In response, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for their confidence in Cambodia’s economic and financial sector development. She briefed them on recent policy developments and reaffirmed the NBC’s commitment to fostering a supportive regulatory environment that promotes sustainable growth in the financial sector.

The meeting also included discussions on regional and global economic outlooks, financial stability, cybersecurity, and collaboration in developing cross-border payment systems.
