Phnom penh: H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), met with Mr. Jo Scheuer, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cambodia, at the NBC headquarters in Phnom Penh. The meeting, held on the afternoon of July 9, was centered on assessing the progress of 22 priority actions outlined in the Multi-stakeholder Consultation on Microfinance in Cambodia.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, both parties expressed satisfaction with the achievements so far, highlighting the active participation of all stakeholders as a crucial factor in the success of the planned activities. The discussions also resulted in an agreement to advance several key initiatives, which include preparations for the 3rd High-Level Multi-stakeholder Dialogue on Microfinance in Cambodia.
The meeting further explored strategies to implement the remaining priority actions, emphasizing the importance of establishing a robust data-sharing infrastructure. Additionally, a feasibility study on collecting credit data from the general population was proposed, aiming to enhance the understanding and management of microfinance dynamics in Cambodia.
