National Athletes and Coaches Rewarded with Sports Excellence Incentive (BruDirect (Brunei))

Department of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports has organised Sports Excellence Incentive Reward Scheme (SPKS) at the Green Room of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

Present as the guest honor, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Hazair Hj Abdullah and his deputy, Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Hjh Adina Hj Othman.

Also present during the event, Permanent Secretary at Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Dr Hj Affendy Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin, and; Deputy Permanent Secretary at Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Mulia Hj Md Noor Jusmin Hj Abd Samad.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by welcoming remarks from Deputy Permanent Secretary at Culture, Youth and Sports. The event later sees Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Pehin Dato Hj Hazair presenting the sports excellence reward to national athletes, coaches and sports bodies.

The incentives are awarded to a total of twelve athletes, five coaches and two National Sports Organisations. They are rewarded for their notable performance during the 2nd Asian Para Games 2014, in Incheon, Korea; 4th ASEAN Beach Games 2014 in Phuket, Thailand, and; 8th Pan Pacifi Petanque Championship 2014, Clark, Philippines.

Such ceremony seeks to provide the needed incentives to national athletes in order for them to excel in each respective field. It is hoped that through such a scheme, local athletes will be able to maintain or improve on their performance both in regional and international. The scheme also rewards coaches due to their role in exclusively developing and training local athletes in accordance with National Sports Policy.
