More jobs also available at PhilJobNet

Apart from job fairs regularly conducted in various locations nationwide, there is also a DOLE facility that frequently churns out job vacancies every week. However, the employment opportunities and other labor market information are not disseminated in usual job fair sites, such as schools, malls, city, or town halls, but via cyberspace.

Meet the PhilJobNet, the Department of Labor and Employment’s internet-based job and applicant matching system.

This facility is designed both for jobseekers and for employers. Anyone who is at least 15 years old may register as a job applicant in the PhilJobNet. Employers can also use PhilJobNet to invite registered job applicants for job interview on a desired date and have the option to print an applicant’s profile.

We highly encourage jobseekers, especially the youth and the fresh graduates, to use the PhilJobNet. This fast tracks the jobseeker’s search for jobs and the employer’s search for work force. This is another innovative way of finding job vacancies and other useful labor market information, Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said.

Like the previous week, PhilJobNet again listed Call Center Agent as the top vacancy, with a total of 2,427 recorded job openings. It is followed by Staff Nurse (966), Beauty Consultant (610), Cashier (507), Food Server (349), Salesman (322), Market Salesperson (322), Real Estate Salesman (300), Delivery Driver (288), and Sales Clerk (277).

Completing the top 20 vacancies are Customer Service Assistant (244), Bagger (230), Service Crew (222), Office Clerk (217), Technical Support Staff (217), Promo Salesperson (210), Housekeeper [private] (198), Production Worker/ Factory Worker (165), Professional Nurse [general] (159), and Domestic Helper (154)

Bureau of Local Employment Director Dominique R. Tutay reported that PhilJobNet recorded on April 24-30, a total of 8,429 active vacancies in the local employment industry.

On the same period, PhilJobNet recorded a total of 1,743 accredited employers who posted their vacancies at the said job-matching portal.

PhilJobNet service is free of charge for both job applicants and establishments. Its facilities can also be accessed at the Job Search Kiosks, an ATM-type stand-alone equipment, at DOLE attached agencies and regional offices, Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs), and selected schools throughout the country.

An employer or establishment duly recognized by Philippine business authorizing agencies and with existing Tax Identification Number (TIN) can register in the PhilJobNet.

Job seekers and employers can log on at http://philjobnet.gov.ph/ to be able to know more about job vacancies and other employment facilitation services, or visit Bureau of Local Employment at 6th Floor, BF Condominium cor. Solana & Soriano St., Intramuros Manila. They can also call the PhilJobNet Hotline at (632) 527-2543 Fax: (632) 527-2421.

Additionally, DOLE’s Bureau of Local Employment, which handles the PhilJobNet, also produces career guidance materials that aims to solve the high unemployment rates among the youth. Some of these materials are the ILO-developed Guiding Youth Careers handbook for young jobseekers and the Minute Guide for Young Jobseekers, a self-help guide intended to assist young jobseekers, especially new graduates, school leavers, and out-of-school and unemployed youth in their job search.

Jobseekers and even workers wanting to improve their careers can also get rich information in the DOLE-BLE’s Career Guide, an online resource material that provides basic information on the occupations identified in the labor market.

The Career Guide describes the basic education requirements of a job, skills and competencies, attributes and characteristics, salary/compensation, prospect for career advancement, employment opportunities and cost of education or training. It seeks to aid and supplement students and jobseekers alike, with current information on particular jobs to make informed decisions about their chosen careers.

These labor information materials can be accessed at http://www.ble.dole.gov.ph/ index.php/cg/14-career-guide- articles and http://www.ble.dole.gov.ph/ index.php/career-guide.
