More Asean Quality Products Expected 12th CAEXPO (BruDirect (Brunei))

More quality products from China and other Asean countries will be housed at the upcoming 12th China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) in Nanning this September.

Brunei buyers and buying missions will have a rewarding trip to the 12th CAEXPO, for it will bring together made-in-China electric power equipments, food packaging machinery, engineering machinery, electrical appliances and electronics, building materials and distinctive products from other Asean member countries.

Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the ambitious initiatives of building the New Silk Road Economic Belt and the Maritime Silk Road of the 21st century, or Belt and Road for short. The initiatives call for building a community of shared benefits with win-win results and community of shared destiny for ‘common development and prosperity, which meet the needs of the countries along the Belt and Road, and open a window of opportunities for mutual agreements and development.

Countries along the 21st century Maritime Silk Road like Brunei and China enjoy geographical proximity, cultural affinity and historical bond. With the impetus given by building the Road and Belt, Brunei will have an easy access and ample room to cooperate with the countries concerned.

Guangxi, the host province of the CAEXPO, as a major province in South China that connects China and Asean by land and sea passageways, is a vital gateway along the Road and Belt. The CAEXPO and Guangxi will play more important roles in the exchanges and cooperation among China, Brunei and other Asean countries.

Currently, the preparations of the 12th CAEXPO are in full swing. As this year marks the China-Asean Maritime Cooperation Year, the 12th CAEXPO will feature the Maritime Silk Road and programmes related to maritime cooperation, to help China and Asean reach consensus in this regard, so as to facilitate the participation of China, Brunei and other Asean countries in building the Belt and Road.

The 12th CAEXPO will step up efforts to attract buyers to its exhibit highlights and draw as many possible quality trade visitors from Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) members and countries beyond. As the UN International Trade Center has become its supporting organisation, the CAEXPO has more resources to invite more international buyers to join the event.

More economies will participate and new business opportunities will be fostered. Starting from last year, the CAEXPO has launched the special guest country mechanism, inviting one of the RCEP Asean FTA Partners (AFP) to be the special guest country of the year.

As this year’s special guest country, South Korea will send a high-profile government and business delegation to visit the 12th CAEXPO and take part in the business promotion programmes arranged concurrently to meet and talk with enterprises from Brunei, China and other Asean member states.
