Kelantan: Kelantan Regent Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra today called on the state government and the people to focus on strengthening the economy, preserving social harmony, respecting religious values, and upholding unity in line with the Membangun Bersama Islam policy. The Regent emphasized the collective responsibility to maintain a peaceful and harmonious environment by adhering to laws, regulations, and established guidelines in various aspects of life, including sensitive issues such as the construction of houses or places of worship that have recently garnered public attention.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Regent highlighted that compliance with laws not only reflects civic maturity but also serves as a crucial foundation in preventing disputes and disharmony. He stated, "Any action that tarnishes the sanctity of religion or creates racial tension cannot be accepted at all." He further stressed the importance of enforcing laws fairly and firmly, along with implementing awareness programs to ensure that peace and harmony in the state are preserved.
Additionally, the Regent pointed out that the tourism sector is a significant catalyst for the state's economic growth. He noted that Kelantan is blessed with natural beauty, cultural heritage, and unique traditions, positioning it as an attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists. "I therefore call on the state government to intensify efforts to upgrade tourism facilities and expand tourism promotion in line with Visit Malaysia Year 2026," he urged.
Furthermore, the Regent encouraged the state government to create support platforms that involve psychological services, social support, environmental well-being, and spiritual development. This includes the provision of recreational parks and sports facilities to further enhance the quality of life for the residents of Kelantan.
