Phnom penh: Professor KAWASHIMA Shin of International Relations at the University of Tokyo paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon. During the meeting, Professor KAWASHIMA informed the Prime Minister that the purpose of his visit was to gain a deeper understanding of Cambodia’s socio-economic development and foreign policy through meetings with representatives from various ministries, institutions, and higher education institutions.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the professor also expressed interest in learning about the Royal Government of Cambodia’s strategies for socio-economic growth and its efforts to strengthen Cambodia-Japan relations, and invited the Premier to share his insights. In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet warmly welcomed Professor KAWASHIMA and his colleagues, and thanked them for their interest in Cambodia’s development path.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Japan is a close friend and key partner of Cambodia, having played a vital role in the country’s peacebuilding efforts and socio-economic progress. He outlined the Royal Government’s key policy priorities under the Seventh Legislature, which include placing people at the centre of development by improving healthcare, education, job creation, and fostering a conducive environment for business and investment.
Samdech Thipadei and Professor KAWASHIMA also exchanged views on regional and global issues, emphasising the importance of promoting peace, stability, and shared prosperity in an increasingly uncertain world.
