Exhibition Highlights AI’s Role in Transforming Education in Cambodia

Phnom penh: An exhibition on the ‘Use of Artificial Intelligence in Education’ is taking place at the National Institute of Education in Phnom Penh as part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations, which this year is themed ‘Teacher is the Catalyst of AI Transformation.’

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the two-day exhibition was inaugurated under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports. The event is organized by the Rectors’ Council of Cambodia, in collaboration with the Research, Creativity and Innovation Fund (RCI Fund) and the Centre for Digital and Distance Education of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

The exhibition features three categories: research outcomes in the form of prototypes, programmes, or systems related to AI; ongoing AI-related curricula or research; and new research projects or initiatives for AI development. Special presentations include announcements of a National Conference on Artificial Intelligence for Education, the use of AI to support learning and teaching, and new paradigms in AI tool development.

H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron highlighted the importance of the exhibition as a step towards integrating AI into education. He emphasized that AI will bring changes across all fields, particularly in education, where it enhances teaching and learning. He also stressed the need to balance technology with human intellect, warning against complete reliance on AI, as it could hinder independent human thinking and underscored the importance of ethical principles in technology use.
