Cambodian Prime Minister Stresses Active Efforts in Border Dispute Resolution

Kandal: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this morning reaffirmed that the Royal Government is quiet but not silent, stressing that it has been actively working to achieve a ceasefire and peace in the border dispute with Thailand.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized Cambodia’s stance on respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity. He made it clear that while Cambodia has no intention of violating another country’s sovereignty, it will also not allow its own to be compromised. This statement was made during the inauguration ceremony of Techo International Airport in Kandal province.

The Prime Minister outlined three key approaches that the Royal Government is undertaking to resolve the border conflict. The first approach focuses on preventing the conflict from spreading to other areas. The second approach involves employing all available methods and exploring every possible means to end the conflict that causes significant destruction. The third approach aims at restoring relations post-conflict.

The Prime Minister reiterated the importance of maintaining restraint to minimize problems and reduce the loss of lives, both soldiers and civilians, as well as damage to property, while seeking to restore the situation. He highlighted that the continuation of the conflict affects soldiers and civilians in the conflict zone, rather than leaders or city dwellers, underscoring the critical need for resolution.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that a peace agreement will be concluded in the near future, marking an important goal for Cambodia in resolving the conflict.
