Cambodia Earns US$209 Million from Milled Rice Exports in First Four Months

Phnom Penh: Cambodia exported 282,315 tonnes of milled rice in the first four months of 2025, marking a 13.8 percent increase from 248,000 tonnes in the same period last year, according to a report released Tuesday by the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF).

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the export generated US$209 million in revenue between January and April, a 23 percent rise from the US$170 million earned during the same period in 2024, the report stated. The exported rice included various varieties such as fragrant rice, long-grain white rice, parboiled rice, and organic rice. Fragrant rice accounted for 78 percent of the total exports, the CRF noted.

A total of 48 rice exporters shipped milled rice to 59 countries and regions. China remained the largest importer, purchasing 70,435 tonnes-representing 25 percent of Cambodia’s total milled rice exports during the period. In addition, the Kingdom exported 134,212 tonnes of rice to 25 European countries, 40,291 tonnes to five ASEAN member states, and 37,374 tonnes to other destinations.

Cambodia also earned approximately US$723 million from the border trade of 3.03 million tonnes of paddy rice during the same four-month period. In 2024, Cambodia exported more than 651,522 tonnes of milled rice, generating US$491 million in revenue. The Cambodia Rice Federation has set an ambitious target of exporting at least one million tonnes of milled rice by the end of 2025.
