Phnom penh: A high-level Cambodian delegation, led by the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) President H.E. Dr. Thong Khon, has departed for Bahrain to participate in the 2025 Asian Youth Games.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the delegation, which includes senior officials from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, departed from Techo International Airport on Oct. 19 evening. H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State, is also part of the delegation.
In a pre-departure statement, H.E. Vath Chamroeun confirmed that some Cambodian athletes had already arrived in Bahrain, with the remainder set to travel in the coming days.
The Cambodian team will compete in 14 sports at the Games, which run from Oct. 22 to 31. Last week, the athletes received a send-off from Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, who conveyed the encouragement of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and urged the team to strive for top results

The 3rd Asian Youth Games, hosted by Bahrain, will see Cambodia field athletes in 14 disciplines: athletics, swimming, badminton, 3×3 basketball, judo, Kun Khmer, jujitsu, mixed martial arts, table tennis, taekwondo WT, wrestling, weightlifting, pencak silat, and table football.
Beyond competition, Cambodia is slated to play a significant role in the event’s cultural programme. The delegation will present an artistic performance at the closing ceremony and will formally accept the host flag from Bahrain, marking the official handover for the 2029 Asian Youth Games, which Cambodia is scheduled to host.
