Cambodia Calls for Stronger Global Action to Advance Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment

Phnom penh: Addressing the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women under the theme ‘One Shared Future: New and Accelerated Process for Women’s All-Round Development,’ Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, called for renewed global cooperation to accelerate the implementation of gender equality and women’s empowerment commitments.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Khuon Sudary reaffirmed that Cambodia remains committed to the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995), describing it as the cornerstone of national and international efforts to promote women’s rights, leadership, and inclusion. Under the theme ‘One Shared Future,’ she outlined Cambodia’s key calls to action for the international community.

The focal points included facilitating conducive international and national environments to expedite the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, enhancing systemic transformation to advance equality in access and outcomes for women and girls, and empowering women and girls through professional development. This also involves expanding access to technology and innovation, including artificial intelligence (AI).

She emphasised that these actions are essential to achieving gender equality in the digital era, ensuring that women and girls have the tools, skills, and opportunities to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Samdech Khuon Sudary concluded by reaffirming Cambodia’s readiness to work closely with international partners to promote a future where every woman and girl can live with dignity, equality, and opportunity, contributing to peace, progress, and sustainable development for all.
