Geneva: H.E. Ouk Prachea, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, is leading a Cambodian delegation to the 66th World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) General Assembly, taking place from July 8 to 17 in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Assembly has drawn the participation of over 1,600 delegates from 194 countries, attending both in person and virtually.
In his statement to the Assembly, H.E. Ouk Prachea-who also serves as the Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Intellectual Property-highlighted Cambodia’s achievements and strategic direction in the field of intellectual property (IP). He particularly emphasised progress aligned with the National Intellectual Property Policy 2023-2028 and the Pentagonal Strategy – Phase 1 of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC).
H.E. Ouk Prachea underlined that Cambodia’s participation reflects its active role and contribution to promoting IP at the international level, in line with the RGC’s policies on innovation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and inclusiveness.
He also reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to continued engagement with ASEAN as Chair of the ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation (AWGIPC), and to further strengthening cooperation with WIPO and other member states.
On July 7, on the sidelines of the Assembly, H.E. Ouk Prachea held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Luke Goh, Permanent Secretary (Development) at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Law, to discuss further collaboration on IP-related matters.
