Cambodia and Thailand Set to Convene Extraordinary Regional Border Committee Meetings

Phnom penh: Cambodia and Thailand will hold two extraordinary meetings of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) next week, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence, said at a regular press briefing this afternoon.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the first extraordinary RBC meeting will be co-chaired by Cambodia’s Military Region 4 and Thailand’s Army Region 2, while the second will bring together Cambodia’s Military Region 5 and Thailand’s Army Region 1. H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata did not specify the exact dates or venues of the meetings.

Earlier today, the Cambodian Military Regions 4 and 5 convened preparatory meetings to ensure that next week’s RBC sessions can proceed smoothly, constructively, and with positive outcomes, she underlined. The forthcoming RBC meetings build on the spirit and agreements reached at the Extraordinary General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting between Cambodia and Thailand, held on Aug. 7, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur.
