Phnom penh: H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, hosted a farewell meeting with H.E. Park Jung Wook, the outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to Cambodia, marking the conclusion of Ambassador Park’s diplomatic mission.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during their meeting, Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn commended Ambassador Park for his significant contributions toward enhancing Cambodia-ROK relations. He acknowledged the upgrade of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership, a milestone achieved during Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister HUN Manet’s official visit to the ROK in May 2024. He also highlighted the potential for future elevation to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Both officials emphasized the importance of ongoing high-level exchanges, citing the National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-pyo’s visit to Cambodia in September 2023, the attendance of Samdech Techo President of Senate at the World Knowledge Forum in the ROK in September 2024, and the participation of the President of the National Assembly of Cambodia in the Universal Peace Federation World Summit 2025 in the ROK in April 2025. Ambassador Park expressed his gratitude for the cooperation and coordination received from the Cambodian government and the ROK Embassy.
Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn remarked on the progress in Cambodia-ROK cooperation in sectors such as trade and investment, defense and security, education, tourism, and labor. He praised the ROK’s contributions to Cambodia’s socio-economic development through ongoing official development assistance (ODA).
Furthermore, he expressed appreciation for the strengthened people-to-people exchanges and thanked the ROK for its support of Cambodian workers, students, and trainees. Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn also assured Ambassador Park that his successor would receive the same level of cooperation.
