SINGAPORE, The ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Retreat will be held here on Feb 6, in conjunction with the Singapore Airshow 2018, according to the republic’s Ministry of Defence (MINDEF).

In a statement here, MINDEF said as part of the ADMM Retreat programme, the ASEAN Defence Ministers will call on Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who will also host a lunch for them at the Singapore Airshow.

The Singapore Airshow, Asia’s largest aerospace and defence event, will be held for six days from Feb 6 at the Changi Exhibition Centre.

The ASEAN Defence Ministers will also have an informal meeting with the Chinese Minister of National Defence, General Chang Wanquan, who will be in Singapore for his introductory visit for four days until Feb 8, it said.

MINDEF said this year marked Singapore’s Chairmanship of ASEAN, the ADMM and the ADMM-Plus.

The ADMM-Plus comprises 18 countries, namely the 10 ASEAN countries as well as Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russia and the United States.

Singapore is also the ASEAN-China Country Coordinator from 2015 to 2018.

Following the ADMM Retreat in February, MINDEF said Singapore would host the formal ADMM and the ADMM-Plus meetings in October.

This is the second time that Singapore is chairing the ADMM, since the establishment of the ADMM in 2006.
