Putrajaya: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a courtesy call from representatives of six pondok institutions participating in the Digital Transformation of Islamic Education Institutions (IPI) programme.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the meeting included representatives from Maahad Tarbiah Islamiah in Kedah, Pusat Pengajian Pondok in Kelantan, Institut Ahmad Ibni Idris (SAIFI) in Negeri Sembilan, Pusat Pendidikan Ribath Al-Musthofa in Pahang, Pondok Darul Furqan in Perak, and Maahad Ihya Ulumiddin in Penang.
During the meeting in Putrajaya, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of integrating digital skills, including artificial intelligence, into the educational framework of pondok institutions, while preserving their traditional Islamic teachings. He expressed optimism about the institutions' ability to navigate new territories in education, which he noted is vital for addressing contemporary challenges.
The IPI programme is a collaborative initiative between the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). Anwar highlighted in a Facebook post that this initiative is expected to lay a robust foundation for the future of Islamic education in the region.
