Chanthaburi: Cambodia and Thailand this morning commenced a special meeting of the Joint Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary (JBC) in Chanthaburi province, Thailand. The Cambodian delegation is led by H.E. Lam Chea, Minister in Charge of the State Secretariat for Border Affairs and Chairman of the Cambodian JBC, while the Thai delegation is headed by H.E. Prasas Prasasvinitchai, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of Border Affairs and Chairman of the Thai JBC.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the two-day meeting will review and follow up on the outcomes of the 6th JBC Meeting held in Phnom Penh on June 14-15, 2025. Discussions will also focus on key agenda items raised by the Cambodia-Thailand General Boundary Committee (GBC) at its first special meeting in Cambodia’s Koh Kong province on September 10, 2025, particularly the case concerning Chork Chey village. Other issues related to border affairs are also expected to be discussed during the meeting.
Prior to the plenary session, the two heads of delegation held a closed-door meeting. The special JBC meeting reaffirms the efforts and commitment of both nations to resolve their border issues peacefully through dialogue and mutual understanding.
