Phnom penh: The General Department of Immigration of the Ministry of Interior has deported 64 South Korean nationals, including five women, found to be involved in online fraud activities. The deportation took place on the night of Oct. 17, 2025, in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Korea, which will continue legal proceedings against the suspects upon their return.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the action forms part of Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to enforce the law, suppress cybercrime, and protect both local and foreign victims. Cambodia has previously deported 180 South Koreans for similar offenses. The Royal Government continues to work closely with South Korean authorities to repatriate their nationals involved in online scams, pursue further investigations, and dismantle the criminal networks behind these operations.
Over the past four months, Cambodian authorities have raided 92 suspected locations across 18 provinces, arresting about 3,455 suspects of 20 nationalities. Of these, 2,825 foreigners, including 476 women, were deported, while 75 key ringleaders were sent to court for prosecution. These results reflect the Royal Government’s strong determination to eliminate online scams and human trafficking from Cambodia.
Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet launched a national campaign in July 2025 comprising nine key directives, instructing all provincial and municipal governors, police chiefs, and relevant ministries to strictly implement anti-cybercrime measures and take full responsibility for their enforcement. Cambodia, which has also been a victim of transnational online scams, remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating such crimes from its territory.
