According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women was convened under the theme ‘One Shared Future: New and Accelerated Process for Women’s All-Round Development.’ The event brought together around 1,000 participants, including heads of state, government, and parliamentary leaders from nearly 100 countries, alongside representatives of international organizations and development partners.
In his opening remarks, President Xi Jinping outlined priorities to accelerate the advancement of women and strengthen global cooperation on gender equality and women’s empowerment. He announced initiatives to support women’s development globally, including a US$10 million donation to UN Women and a US$100 million contribution to the Global South Cooperation Fund for Women and Girls over the next five years.
China also plans to implement 1,000 small livelihood projects, invite 50,000 women to China annually for exchange and training programs, and establish a Centre for Women’s Capacity Building and Cooperation. This center aims to train talented women and foster collaboration with partner nations and institutions.
These commitments, as stated by President Xi, demonstrate China’s dedication to promoting women’s empowerment, gender equality, and leadership in green transformation and digital innovation.
Samdech Khuon Sudary’s participation in this high-level global forum signifies Cambodia’s ongoing engagement with international partners to promote gender equality, women’s empowerment, and sustainable development. This aligns with the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
