Phnom penh: His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk have returned to Cambodia after spending over a month in China for their routine medical checkup. The royal couple was received with a warm welcome upon their arrival at Techo International Airport in Kandal province.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the welcoming party included Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, who also serves as President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, and Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen, along with Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and his spouse Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony. Several high-ranking officials and members of the Royal Family were also present. Representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia attended the event as well.
The monarchs had traveled to China on August 23, 2025, for their regular medical checkup. During their stay, they met with H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, and his spouse, Madame Peng Liyuan. His Majesty also participated in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Additionally, King Norodom Sihamoni granted an exclusive interview to People’s Daily of China, where he emphasized the enduring friendship between Cambodia and China.
Their Majesties visit Beijing for medical examinations twice a year and are consistently received with hospitality and care by Chinese leaders and medical professionals.
