Foreign Delegates Arrive in Siem Reap for 20th Asia Media Summit

Siem reap: Delegates from across the world have arrived in Siem Reap province to attend the 20th Asia Media Summit to be hosted by Cambodia from July 21 to 24.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, upon their arrival at Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, the delegates were warmly welcomed by senior officials from Cambodia’s Ministry of Information. The summit, themed “Celebrating Two Decades of Excellence and Beyond,” aims to provide a platform to enhance the framework of information diplomacy and promote international cooperation on shared challenges such as combating fake news and addressing disinformation driven by artificial intelligence.

The event will gather ministers, policy experts, media professionals, content creators, and journalists from 36 countries. Key discussions will focus on information-sharing mechanisms, crisis communication strategies, and measures to enhance information security. The summit will be preceded by seven specialised workshops and officially inaugurated on July 22 under the presidency of H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information.

Following the opening ceremony, a series of plenary sessions will explore topics such as Disinformation: The Role of Media and the Government; Inspiring Voices from Across the World; Information as a Public Good: Upholding Credibility and Empowering Democracy; Media and Climate Action: The Road to Sustainability; Bridging Legacy and Innovation: Technology’s Role in Media’s Evolution; Session Sponsored by Viory: Sustainable Strategies for Legacy Media; and a CEO Session.

The summit will conclude with the adoption of the Angkor Declaration 2.0, a joint commitment to combating fake news. Cambodia previously hosted the 16th Asian Media Summit in Siem Reap in 2019.
