Nov 25 Defence Proceedings In Dr Roland’s Unregistered Supplements Trial


KUALA LUMPUR, The Magistrate’s Court here today scheduled three days starting Nov 25 for the defence proceedings in the trial of Dr. Roland Victor, who is accused of selling unregistered supplements four years ago.

Magistrate Farah Nabihah Muhammad set Nov 25, 26, and 27 as the dates during today’s case mention, which was attended by prosecuting officer Siti Nor Sarahidah Jayatan from the National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau (BPFK) and Dr. Roland’s lawyer, K. Shalvin.

Earlier, Shalvin informed the court that five witnesses would be called to testify in the case.

The court also set Nov 5 for the next case mention.

On Aug 9, the court ordered the accused to enter his defence after finding that the prosecution had successfully established a prima facie case against him.

Dr. Roland, the director of RCS Health Services Sdn Bhd, is accused of selling an unregistered supplement, specifically Curcumin BCM 95% 100mg Vitamin K2 (MK4 500mcg + MK7 50mcg) + Ascorbic Acid 500mg + Vitamin D3 2000iu + Zinc Orotate 25
mg in 30 capsules.

The supplement was allegedly sold to a 40-year-old woman through his employee at a clinic on Jalan Perak here at 11.05 am on July 7, 2020.

This is said to have violated Regulation 7(1)(a) of the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984 and is punishable under Section 12(2) of the Sale of Drugs Act 1952.

The accused could face a maximum fine of RM50,000, and for repeat offences, a fine not exceeding RM100,000, upon conviction.
